A Collective Homage

We invite you to join us for an evening of Asian American musical talents that span across several generations sharing one stage. In their own right as influential artists, they pay tribute to one of their own whom has made his way onto a more important performance in the after-life. We hope you are entertained + touched by their homage.

PINAY

Pinay Divas started out in 1993 as a primarily a cappella group, bringing together the talents of four women with backgrounds in classical, pop, soul + gospel music. Prior to penning their first record label contract in 1996, they spent three years together refining the blend and interaction of their voices. Through their years of singing together, Pinay has developed a very distinct sound, unparalleled by any other. Once they have stepped on stage, their audience is instantly captivated.

DNH: DROP N HARMONY

Serving up an equal order of mid-tempo rhythm with heart-ridden ballads, DnH drives a consistent message of open communication without the sugar-coated shell of metaphors + analogies. Relying on clear-cut messages with complex harmonic delivery, DnH's songs are reminiscent of a time when music was honest + pure. Since the group's 2000 release, members have also served up solo endeavors, notably Sway Penala's American Idol feature + solo album  along with Darrel Seegmiller's solo full-length release. Together, as one unit, their performances are always explosive with undeniable harmonies – living up to their namesake + fulfilling a soulful San Francisco sound.

ONE VO1CE

The ladies of One Voice met while they were in elementary school, starting out oringally as a quintet in Vallejo, California. By 1998 they found themselves inking a deal with an independent record label + contracted the talent of multi-platinum producer James Earley. By 1999, their debut album "Just the Beginning" was released + their single "When U Think About Me" was on heavy rotation on radio stations across the nation, which led to the re-release of the album the following year. The longevity of the group allowed them to bless their fans with three albums + have come back togehter after a hiatus from the music industry.  

AJ RAFAEL

AJ Rafael is an American musician of Filipino descent from Moreno Valley, CA who has self-released two EPs + one album. In 2005, AJ Rafael auditioned for American Idol, but never progressed to the later stages. After the show he started posting his songs on YouTube in 2006, which garnered considerable interest and a legion of followers + has toured internationally. AJ is involved in the charity Music Speaks + has run the Annual Autism Benefit Concert since 2006. His heartfelt messages are intertwined through his song, sound + performances / presence.

APEX

This unique group was originally formed when Anthony [AC] Lorenzo invited Andrew [Dru] Gapuz, Geoffrey [Geof] Lintao, Quincy [Q] Victoria + Leo Chan to perform at a San Francisco benefit concert. Following a group split, AC, Dru + Leo began working as a trio + in 1995, added Errol Viray + AC's cousin Andrey [Drey] Silva. Originally named APEX, the group changed its name to Kai, an abbreviated version of the Tagalog word Kaibigan, which means friend. On a very momentous event, our audience will be able to experience with whom this KAI journey started from.

ANAK

Based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, ANAK is a four-man singing group  comprised of Anthony, Noah, Andrew+ Chris.  Fusing their diverse musical backgrounds, they have developed a unique sound that combines Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, Pop + A Capella. Known for their blended harmonies, Hip Hop oriented rudiments, original production + occasionally, the knack for bringing back those “old school jams”, they write, record + perform for the simple fact that they love to do it. ANAK represents the current generation that has taken the torch of their predecessors, strictly representing for the pure passion of music + culture.

MANGO KINGZ

Since their humble beginnings in 1998, Mango Kingz joined together to put their own spin on the island reggae sound that has spanned generations. Through the years, the Mango Kingz have evolved and so has their distinct style. They strive to bring a little bit of that aloha spirit to the mainland, all for the love of a music that they fell in love with on a family vacation. Their first single, “You Got Me” was released in 2012, blowing up the radio waves in Hawaii. Their follow ups, "Givin it Up", "Lady Sublime", + "All Over Again" and their newest "Thumpin'" are introductions to the type of feel good music you can expect from the Mango Kingz.
